  • Cabinet:
The main component of a stainless fire extinguisher box, made of galvanized sheet metal of a specific thickness that is rust-resistant. The sheet metal thickness is tailored to the customer’s request, usually around 1.5 millimeters. The dimensions vary depending on the type of fire cabinet box but are suitable to accommodate all box accessories.
  • Hose:
A long connection found in the emergency hose cabinets, available in different lengths and diameters, made of canvas or rubber. It is typically 30 meters long, but firefighters may require lengths ranging from 20 to 50 meters. The diameter is usually one or one and a half inches.
  • Fire Nozzle:
A padded head attached to the hose, equipped with a control handle and an open/close valve. It rapidly pressurizes the water inside the hose to provide a long throwing distance, effectively extinguishing fires. Different types of nozzles are available, such as water nozzles, foam nozzles, and chemical substance nozzles.

Fire hose cabinet types:

  • Hose Reel Type:
This fire extinguisher box comes with a hose made of canvas or rubber, coiled on the arm of a fire hose reel cabinet.
  • Hose Rack Type:
This fire box is designed with a beautiful decorative appearance and comes with a hose made of canvas or reinforced fabric. It is installed on the fire hydrant.

Fire extinguisher boxes are classified based on hose requirements into three categories:

  • Class 1:
One type of cabinet fire hose is distributed on escape stairs for use by firefighters. It has a diameter of 2.5 inches, including the nozzle and valve. The pressure should not be less than 6.9 bars according to the NFPA 14 international code or 4.5 bars according to the Arab code. The flow rate should not be less than 250 gallons per minute.
  • Class 2:
This cabinet fire hose is distributed along roadways at distances of up to 30 meters and can be used by any regular person. The hose diameter is usually one or one and a half inches, including the accessories. The pressure is 4.5 bars, and the flow rate is 100 gallons per minute.
  • Class 3:
This cabinet fire hose is distributed inside buildings and at main entrances, for use by regular individuals. It comes with a hose diameter of 2.5 inches and another hose diameter of one or one and a half inches. It requires a water pressure of 6.9 bars and a flow rate of 250 gallons per minute.

Installation of the fire cabinet box:

  • Selecting a suitable location for installing the fire reel cabinet, preferably in an easily accessible and quickly reachable place in case of a fire.
  • Preparing for installation by gathering all the necessary tools and materials such as screws, keys, drills, etc.
  • Mount the fire extinguisher box on the wall at a height of 90-150 cm from the floor, with most Arab countries installing it at a height of 100 cm from the floor.
  • Connecting the hose inside the fire extinguisher box to the building’s water network using a special valve that is connected to the box.
  • Inspecting and ensuring the safety and readiness of the fire extinguisher box in case of a fire, and regularly checking the hose, valve, and water for emergency use.

Where is the fire hose cabinet installed?

  • In places where fires are likely to occur, such as kitchens, workshops, warehouses, main entrances of buildings, commercial centers, hospitals, schools, hotels, and residential buildings.
  • Near escape stairs, on walls, and in visible and easily accessible locations, where they can be easily used in case of fires.
  • At a distance of 30 meters from areas prone to fire, considering obstacles such as walls.
  • Elevating the fire extinguisher box from the ground at a distance ranging from 90-150 cm.

Types of fire hose reel cabinets according to their installation locations:

  • Exposed fire Box:
A fire hose cabinet that is installed on the wall and protrudes from the wall by a distance of 25 cm, and it is the most commonly used type.
  • Semi-Predated Fire Box:
A fire hose cabinet is installed inside the wall at a distance of 15 cm and protrudes from the wall by a distance of 10 cm.
  • Recessed Fire Box:
A fire hose cabinet is installed within the ceiling or the entire wall, with its surface level being flush with the wall or ceiling surface, making it completely hidden from view and suitable for the interior decor of the place. It is commonly used in narrow corridors and public areas, such as hotels and hospitals.
